The 1966 Cleveland Indians struck out 42 batters in their first three games, a record that stood until the 2013 Texas Rangers topped it by one. Sam McDowell had 19 of the Ks, over two starts, and the team was aided by two extra-inning games. Gary Bell whiffed 13.
