History, Comments, Contributions[edit]
The 1986 Detroit Tigers were known for the All-20-home run infield, a statistic that seemed pedestrian two decades later at the height of the steroid era, but was more impressive to contemporaries.
Catcher Lance Parrish (22), first baseman Darrell Evans (29), second baseman Lou Whitaker (20), third baseman Darnell Coles (20), and shortstop Alan Trammell (21) all had at least 20 homers for the Tigers, who also got 28 from outfielder Kirk Gibson to lead the majors with 198 round-trippers.
Awards and Honors[edit]
- All-Stars: Willie Hernandez, Lance Parrish and Lou Whitaker
- AL Silver Slugger Award: Lance Parrish (C)
