History, Comments, Contributions[edit]
The 2005 St. Louis Cardinals won an even 100 games and finished first in the NL Central, before being eliminated by the Houston Astros in the NLCS. What was most remarkable about this team was how "un-streaky" they were. If the secret to compiling a good record is to avoid long losing streaks, they were better at this than any team in the past 50 years: they had just 10 streaks of two or more consecutive losses during the year: 7 of two games, and 3 of three games. As a result, they did not require any long winning streak to compile their great record, they just systematically won almost two of every three games they played.
