2006 All-Star Game
The 2006 All-Star Game was held on Tuesday, July 11, 2006. The American League won the seventy-seventh midsummer classic by a score of 3 to 2. The game was held at PNC Park in Pittsburgh, PA in front of 38,904 fans. The MVP was Michael Young of the Texas Rangers. Going in to the game, the National League had not won the Midsummer Classic in the last ten meetings.

The Game[edit]
The American League took an early lead when Vladimir Guerrero of the Los Angeles Angels hit a homer in the top of the 2nd inning, but David Wright of the New York Mets tied the game with a solo blast in the bottom of the frame. The next inning, another Met, Carlos Beltran, scored on Roy Halladay's wild pitch. The National League held the lead until the top of the 9th, when Michael Young of the Texas Rangers hit a two-run triple off San Diego Padres closer Trevor Hoffman to give the AL the upper hand. New York Yankees closer Mariano Rivera pitched a scoreless 9th to preserve the American League's 3-2 victory.
