Season Highlights[edit]
The 2011 San Francisco Giants set an obscure record by hitting 20 consecutive solo home runs between July 6 and August 12, beating the record of 19 set by the 1914 Philadelphia Phillies. The streak coincided with a period during which the Giants had difficulty scoring runs to support their excellent pitching, and lost their hold on first place in the NL West to the Arizona Diamondbacks. The string reached 21 until Cody Ross ended it with a two-run shot off the Florida Marlins' Chris Volstad on August 14th.
Awards and Honors[edit]
- All-Stars: Matt Cain, Tim Lincecum, Pablo Sandoval, Ryan Vogelsong and Brian Wilson
