2011 Hall of Fame Election
The results of the 2011 Hall of Fame Election were announced on January 5, 2011. 581 ballots were cast and 436 were needed for election. Candidates who received less than 29 votes were dropped from future considerations. Dave Parker was also dropped after failing to be elected in his 15th year on the ballot.

Veterans Committee[edit]
In the first year of a new Veterans Committee format, candidates from both on and off the field were considered from the expansion era of 1973-1989. 16 ballots were cast with 12 being needed for election. If a candidate received fewer than 8 votes, his true total was not disclosed. The committee was made up of 16 members: 8 Hall of Famers (Johnny Bench, Whitey Herzog, Eddie Murray, Jim Palmer, Tony Perez, Frank Robinson, Ryne Sandberg and Ozzie Smith), 4 executives (Bill Giles, David Glass, Andy MacPhail and Jerry Reinsdorf) and 4 media members (Bob Elliott, Tim Kurkjian, Ross Newhan and Tom Verducci).
