Biographical Information[edit]
Outfielder Aaron Cunningham was signed by Chicago White Sox scouts Joe Butler and Adam Virchis as a 6th round pick in the 2005 amateur draft.
Cunningham was one of six players acquired by the Oakland Athletics from the Arizona Diamondbacks in return for Dan Haren and Connor Robertson on December 14, 2007. He went 2 for 4 with a double in his major league debut for the A's on August 31, 2008.
Through 2010, he was one of only 11 major leaguers born in Alaska. He was born in Anchorage, AK on April 24, 1986, and shortly thereafter Daniel Schlereth was born in Anchorage, on May 9, 1986. Cunningham and Schlereth were both in the Arizona Diamondbacks organization, but not at the same time; Cunningham in 2007 and Schlereth in 2008 and 2009.
On December 16, 2011, he was traded to the Cleveland Indians for P Cory Burns.
