Biographical Information[edit]
Al Cypert played one game for the 1914 Cleveland Naps at third base. He had previously been at Harvard University, where he received a law degree, and had played football at the University of Arkansas as a quarterback and kick returner under coach Hugo Bezdek. He was the first major leaguer born in Little Rock, AR. The regular third baseman for the Indians that year was Larry Gardner, who would continue to man the position for several more seasons.
Alfred Boyd Cypert, also known as Al, Boyd or Cy, was a distant relative of the Cherokee Actor Jeff Davis Tahchee Cypert aka Chief Tahachee, whose career in the motion picture business lasted circa 1920 to 1960. See Chief Tahachee a/k/a Jeff Davis Tahchee Cypert on Internet Movie Database
