Biographical Information[edit]
Alejandro Sanchez played six seasons in the majors, getting the majority of his at-bats with the Detroit Tigers in 1985.
In 1985, Sanchez totaled 133 plate appearances and 133 at-bats, setting the single-season record for most plate appearances without a walk, hit by pitch, sacrifice fly, or sacrifice bunt. He also broke the record for most home runs in one season without a walk. In his major league career, he recorded just one non at-bat, a walk in 1986.
Sanchez was born in 1959 in San Pedro de Macoris, D.R., the same year that Ramon Romero and George Bell were born there. He was signed by the Philadelphia Phillies as a free agent in 1978.
Alejandro played some games in the minors each year from 1978 to 1988. In his best season with the bat, he hit .318 with 26 home runs for the Phoenix Giants in 1984.
