Biographical Information[edit]

Anthony Bemboom made his major league debut with the Tampa Bay Rays in 2019, hitting .400 in three games before he was injured and then acquired by the Los Angeles Angels.

Bemboom was born in St. Cloud, MN, where Jim Eisenreich was also born. Anthony attended Sauk Rapids-Rice High School, also the high school of Rip Repulski. He was drafted out of Creighton University the same year as Ty Blach. He played in the Los Angeles Angels organization from 2012 to 2016 and was selected by the Colorado Rockies in the minor league portion of the 2016 Rule V Draft. After two years in their minor league organization, he became a free agent and signed with the Tampa Bay Rays, with whom he spent a few games in the minors and a few games in the majors. He made his debut on May 12th and went 2 for 5 in 3 games before suffering a knee sprain. When he came off the injured list in July, he was immediately designated for assignment and re-acquired by the Angels on July 15th. Overall, he batted .130/.145/.204 in 25 games.

The only other major leaguer whose last name starts with "Bem" is Harry Bemis (through 2019).
