Blom dives into first, 1966.

Blom got a degree in physical education in 1968. He had already begun his baseball career at age 14. In 1962, the 17-year-old came to the Hoofdklasse with WV-HEDW. He returned to the Hoofdklasse in 1965 and remained there. He played for the Dutch national team as a catcher in the 1964 European Championship and 1965 European Championship, helping them win Gold each time. He also was in the 1968 Haarlem Baseball Week, 1969 European Championship, 1969 Haarlem Baseball Week and 1970 Amateur World Series. He led the league with 14 steals in 1969. He later played for Haarlem Nicols (1971-1974, helping them win the 1974 European Cup) before retiring.

Blom later coached in the Dutch minor leagues as well as coaching womens' softball.
