Biographical Information[edit]

Relief pitcher Ashur Tolliver began his professional career after being taken by the Baltimore Orioles in the fifth round of the 2009 amateur draft, one pick ahead of first baseman Brandon Belt. Scout Jim Richardson signed him.

His season ERAs from 2011 to 2015 were 2.40, 2.98, 2.92, 2.70 and 2.91; he didn't pitch in 2012. The hurler averaged more than a strikeout per inning in 2011, 2014 and 2015. In 2014, he pitched for the Glendale Desert Dogs of the Arizona Fall League, posting a 2.70 ERA in four games.

He never pitched at Triple A before making his major league debut on May 26, 2016. After beginning the campaign with a 2.42 mark in 18 games for the Double A Bowie Baysox, he earned his first promotion to the big leagues. In his first game, he went 1 1/3 scoreless innings against the Houston Astros, striking out three batters.
