Biographical Information[edit]
Ben Grieve, the 1998 American League Rookie of the Year, is the son of former big leaguer Tom Grieve. They were the first father-son combination to both be selected in the first round of the amateur draft. Brother Tim Grieve was drafted in the same year as Ben in 1994, by the Kansas City Royals.
He collected four hits and a career high 5 RBI on May 2, 2001, to lead the Tampa Bay Devil Rays past the Baltimore Orioles, 7-1.
