Biographical Information[edit]
Bill Wagner played five seasons in the major leagues, appearing at catcher and first base.
He wasn't the only "Wagner" on the Pirates, as there was another player, one Honus Wagner, who was 20 years older. While Bill was born in January 1894, Honus was born in February 1874. Honus had made his debut in the majors when Bill was 3 years old.
Honus, however, outlived Bill by a few years because Bill died of cancer in 1951 after a long illness.
Bill started in baseball with Waterloo in 1914.
