Biographical Information[edit]

Bombo Ramos was a pitcher for the Dominican national team.

Ramos was with the Dominicans for the 1941 Amateur World Series, when he was a teenager. He won Bronze with them in the 1943 Amateur World Series. In the 1944 Amateur World Series, he again pitched for the Dominican Republic. The Dominican Sports Hall of Fame lists him on the country's team for the 1946 Central American and Caribbean Games, but the Dominican Olympic Committee does not list him on that squad. The hard-throwing right-hander was one of the victims of a 1948 plane crash that killed numerous Dominican stars. In 1998, he was inducted into the Dominican Sports Hall of Fame. Juan Marichal cited Ramos as an inspiration to become a pitcher.
