Biographical Information[edit]

Brendan Kelly played college ball at the first three schools listed above. He graduated in 2019 from Purdue University Northwest with a degree in Communications and Media Studies. As part of his studies, Kelly spent the summer of 2018 as a Baseball Operations Intern with the Gary SouthShore RailCats in the independent American Association. After graduation he joined the Baseball Operations department of the Lansing Lugnuts, a Midwest League affiliate of the Toronto Blue Jays.

Kelly left Lansing before the season ended when he took an assistant coaching position with Cleary University for the 2020 season. This job lasted one year before he enrolled at Wayne State University to earn a master's degree in Sport and Fitness Administration/Management. Kelly spent his first year at Wayne State working as a graduate assistant coach with the baseball team. After completing his studies, the Warriors athletic department hired him as a Ticket Supervisor and he continued working with the baseball team as an assistant coach going into the 2022 season.

With the 2022 college season already underway, the Blue Jays offered Kelly an assistant pitching coach position with the Buffalo Bisons shortly before the Bisons' season started. He had about a week in spring training with the team before they headed north. The topsy-turvey ride of 2022 did not end there. When the Blue Jays fired manager Charlie Montoyo on July 13th, the reverberations were felt in Buffalo. Bisons manager Casey Candaele moved up to Toronto as interim bench coach, Bisons' pitching coach Jeff Ware took over as Bisons' interim manager, and Kelly took over as interim pitching coach for the Bisons. Kelly was pitching coach of the FCL Blue Jays in 2023.
