Biographical Information[edit]

Carroll "C.B." Beringer pitched in the minors from 1946 to 1960, missing the 1951 and 1952 seasons due to military service at the time of the Korean War. He spent 9 years in the Texas League, 7 with the Fort Worth Cats. Late in his career, pitching for the Victoria Rosebuds in 1959, he was named Texas League Pitcher of the Year, when he went 19-5 with a 3.35 ERA. However, he never made the majors as a player.

After retiring in 1960, Beringer was the Los Angeles Dodgers batting practice pitcher from 1961 to 1966 and coach from 1967 to 1972. He went on to serve on the Philadelphia Phillies staff from 1973 to 1978, following Dodgers coach Danny Ozark to Philadelphia when he was named the Phillies' manager.
