Biographical Information

Infielder Carson Tucker was taken by the Cleveland Indians with the 23rd pick of the first round of the 2020 amateur draft, out of a high school in Phoenix, AZ. He is the brother of major leaguer Cole Tucker. He had been on scouts' radars for years already by the time he was drafted, having first been identified by the U.S. national development program as a 12-year-old and even back then his older brother had predicted he would some day be a first-rounder - a prediction that turned out to be correct.

His professional career started slowly, as the 2020 draft took place in the middle of the COVID-19 pandemic when both high school baseball and minor league baseball were shut down. He then played only 6 games with the ACL Indians in 2021, hitting .150. The following May, while playing for the Lynchburg Hillcats of the Carolina League, he suffered a right forearm strain and was shut down for a number of weeks. He ended up playing 38 games and hitting just .137 with 1 homer and 9 RBIs. The now-Cleveland Guardians still looked at him as a prospect, but he was looking increasingly like a huge bust at that point.
