Biographical Information[edit]

Cooper Goldby was drafted out of high school by the Oakland Athletics in the 36th round of the 2013 Amateur Draft, but he chose to attend Lewis-Clark State College instead. Four years later the A's drafted him again, this time in the 35th round. In his three seasons, the A's moved him around a fair amount so stability was hard to find. This may in part account for his minor league batting line of .158/.293/.178 while playing in 58 games. Goldby voluntarily retired after the 2021 season.

Goldby started his coaching career as the head coach for the Bracken Christian School Warriors in 2021 where Gunnar Buhner was an assistant coach. The two coaches had played together at Lewis-Clark in 2016-2017. Goldby returned to professional baseball in 2022 when the A's brought him back into the organization as an assistant hitting coach for the Stockton Ports. He became a manager with the DSL Athletics in 2023.
