Biographical Information

Damien Dubien pitched for Team Canada.

Dubien was part of a Canadian team that played an exhibition series against the US in 1992. In the 1994 Baseball World Cup, he made two long-relief appearances. Replacing Jason Birmingham in the second inning against Puerto Rico, he allowed three runs over the final 6 1/3 IP after Jordan Zimmerman and Birmingham had given up 10 runs in 1 2/3. His other game, he struck out six and allowed two hits and three runs (all earned again) in 5 1/3 IP after relieving Jeff Zimmerman in the 6th; Canada rallied to tie it against Sweden only for Dubien to give up the losing runs in the 11th, dropping the decision to Rickard Reimer in Sweden's first Baseball World Cup win ever. He finished with a 0-1, 4.76 record, his 10 walks leading Canada by two over Jeff Zimmerman but his ERA better than the team mark. Only Patrice Briones and Sung-min Cho issued more walks in the Cup.

In the 1995 America's Baseball Challenge, his 27.00 ERA was the highest in the event.
