Biographical Information

Outfielder Don Musto played in the Brooklyn Dodgers minor league system from 1953 to 1957.

In 1953, he hit .256/.322/.348 with 127 hits and 28 doubles in 129 games for the Santa Barbara Dodgers. In 1954, he had the best campaign of his career, hitting .326/.401/.449 with 172 hits, 112 runs, 30 doubles and 9 of his 15 career home runs in 128 games for the Bakersfield Indians. He was 5th in the California League in runs, 5th in doubles, 3rd in hits (after Bobby Gene Smith and Harry Clements), 5th in average (between Al Gionfriddo and Chuck Essegian), first in outfielder fielding percentage (.982) and first in double plays by an outfielder (6). He hit .286/.409/.340 for the 1955 Pueblo Dodgers for a drop-off in production.

He hit .315 with 129 hits and 30 doubles in 109 games between the Cedar Rapids Raiders (.315/?/.401 in 94 G) and Pueblo (.314/?/.392 in 15 G) in 1956. He led Cedar Rapids in average. He last played in 1957, doing poorly with the Victoria Rosebuds (2 for 23, HR) and Macon Dodgers (9 for 67, no XBH).

He hit .288 with 523 hits and 100 doubles in 500 games overall.

After baseball, he worked 34 years for the Richmond Fire Department in California.
