Biographical Information[edit]

Eddy Ramos has pitcher over 500 games as a pro.

He played in the Dominican Summer League from 1996-1998. He hit .200/.284/.222 with 54 strikeouts in 180 AB for the 1999 GCL Rangers; he stole 12 bases in 13 tries. He only had two extra-base hits, both triples. The right fielder tied Chad Santos and Wily Mo Pena for 9th in the Gulf Coast League in whiffs. He was then moved to pitcher. He was 2-1 with a 4.83 ERA and 3 saves in 17 games for the 2001 Pulaski Rangers. The Pittsburgh Pirates took him in the 2001 Rule V Draft's minor league phase but he never played in their chain.

Since then, he has pitched in the Mexican League and the Atlantic League. He was 5-6 with four saves and a 3.72 ERA in 44 games for the 2003 Pennsylvania Road Warriors. He tied for 8th in the Atlantic League in games pitched and tied Omar Lopez for third in hit batsmen (12). He split 2004 between the Newark Bears (3-2, Sv, 5.21 in 26 G) and Bridgeport Bluefish (1-1, 13 Sv, 1.38 in 23 G). Overall, he tied for fifth in the Atlantic League in appearances on the mound, was 5th in saves (behind Bill Simas, Conor Brooks, Reggie Harris and Joe Strong, all but Brooks former major leaguers) and tied for third in wild pitches (12, behind Archie Corbin and Brett Laxton).

The Brother Elephants brought him to Taiwan in 2005 to replace the injured Hank Woodman but he didn't pan out, never playing in the CPBL. He also spent time that year with the Bluefish (1-3, 3.77 in 11 G), Acereros de Monclova (3-5, 6.80 in 15 G) and Leones de Yucatan (Sv, 2.55 in 13 G). In 2006, he was with the Bluefish (2-5, 15 Sv, 3.72 in 36 G) and Rieleros de Aguascalientes (1-2, Sv, 6.75 in 19 G). The Dominican righty tied Hector Almonte and Charlie Weatherby for 4th in the Atlantic League in saves. He was excellent for Bridgeport in '07 (4-4, 16 Sv, 1.56 in 44 G). He was 5th in the Atlantic League in saves.

He remained busy in 2008, split between the Bluefish (1-6, 20 Sv, 4.38 in 44 G) and Pericos de Puebla (2-0, 2.65 in 16 G). He was second in the Atlantic League in saves, four behind leader Alec Zumwalt. In 2009, he pitched for Newark (0-1, 7.71 in 7 G), the Olmecas de Tabasco (2-2, 2 Sv, 4.50 in 9 G) and the Dorados de Chihuahua (2-0, Sv, 2.42 in 22 G). He was 3-2 with a 4.15 ERA in 29 games for the 2010 Dorados.

In winter ball in 2010-2011, he teamed with Dylan Owen and Saul Rivera in a no-hitter for the Criollos de Caguas against the Gigantes de Carolina. He was 1-0 with a 0.36 ERA for Caguas in the Puerto Rican Winter League that year. He tossed 4 2/3 shutout innings in the 2011 Caribbean Series and got a win. He remained hot into 2011, again starting the summer in Mexico (3-1, 2.93 in 15 G for the Saraperos de Saltillo) and finishing in the Atlantic League (1-1, 3 Sv, 2.21 ERA, .93 WHIP in 29 G for the Road Warriors).

Ramos was 4-1 with a 0.94 ERA in 21 games for the 2011-2012 Criollos, one game behind Sergio Espinosa for the Puerto Rican League lead. For the Indios de Mayagüez in the 2012 Caribbean Series, he struggled in his lone outing. He relieved Bobby Livingston with a 2-0 deficit and two out in the 4th and retired the Leones del Escogido's Pedro Florimon. In the 5th, he walked Jose Constanza, who stole second. Pablo Ozuna bunted and an error by Ramos on the play scored Constanza. He was then yanked. In the summer, he put in a full year with Mexico's Sultanes de Monterrey (6-3, 2 Sv, 4.89 in 51 G). He was the team leader in games pitched.

He fell to 0-1, 3.31 for Caguas in 2012-2013. In the 2013 Caribbean Series, he allowed one run in 2 1/3 IP for the Criollos. In a 3-0 loss to the Yaquis de Obregón, he relieved Kelvin Villa in the 6th with a 1-0 deficit and one on. He allowed a hit to Jesse Gutierrez, threw a wild pitch and then gave up a two-run double to Oscar Robles. He only saw limited action for the 2013 Long Island Ducks (1 R in 9 2/3 IP).
