Venezuelan infielder Emmanuel Febles began his career in the Spanish Division de Honor in 2006, hitting .276/.360/.353 for the Marlins Puerto Cruz in a utility role. In 2007, he batted .393/.435/.483 for FC Barcelona and was 7th in the league in average. He was 9-for-9 in steal attempts and led all second basemen with a .962 fielding percentage. He was named the All-Star 2B>
In 2008, Febles hit .265/.357/.327 for Barcelona and tied for 4th in steals (going 10-for-13 on the bases). In the 2008 European Cup in Regensburg, Emmanuel hit .438/.526/.562 and was 2-for-4 in steals. In Barcelona's last game, he delivered a crucial 2-run triple to start a comeback against Nettuno to help Barcelona win the Cup, the first European Cup title for a Spanish club in decades. In the 2008 European Cup Final Four, the 21-year-old infielder was 0 for 7.
Febles was 4 for 12 with a double and a run in the 2009 European Cup's Matino phase. He was on Spain's preliminary 29-man roster for the 2009 Baseball World Cup.
