Biographical Information[edit]

Gabby Martinez was selected by the Milwaukee Brewers in the 1st Round (38th overall) of the 1992 amateur draft. He played professional baseball internationally and in the United States for over 15 years. He was the first ever 1st Round draft pick from Puerto Rico. In 1997, Gabby led the Yankee minor league organization in hitting. In the same year, he won the batting title in the Puerto Rican Winter League with a .375 average. In August 2003 Gabby made the first “All-Star Dream Team” in Puerto Rico. In 2005, he led the Caguas Criollos in hitting. This 7-time “All-Star” [citation needed] has played for the Milwaukee Brewers, Tampa Bay Devil Rays, Chicago White Sox, Chicago Cubs, New York Mets and the New York Yankees baseball organizations.
