Biographical Information[edit]
George Sharrott pitched two years in the majors. His minor league career went from at least 1889 to 1896.
George grew up in the same neighborhood as Jack Sharrott, but since the two were born three months apart, they were clearly not brothers. Other major leaguers from the same neighborhood were Tuck Turner, Jack Cronin and Brewery Jack Taylor.
"(Manager) Foutz tried a namesake of Jack Sharrott, George Sharrott, in the last two innings, and the latter showed up strongly. Keeler made his debut with Brooklyn, and played a strong game." - from Sporting Life's account of George Sharrott's major league debut and Willie Keeler's Brooklyn debut on July 27, as reported in the August 5, 1893 issue
