Biographical Information

Harry Hanson appeared in just one major league game, when he caught for the 1913 New York Yankees on July 14, 1913. As of 2009 he is still the youngest catcher in American League history: in second place, a month older, is Hall of Famer Jimmie Foxx.

Harry served in the U.S. Army during both World Wars I and II. He retired after 37 years in the Army (BN).

"While the New Yorks were in Chicago manager Chance picked up a young catcher named Harry Hanson. He played with the Washington Heights team. He is a sturdy lad, 21 years old, and seems to have a good whip.
