Biographical Information

Harry Hoch pitched in the major leagues with the Philadelphia Phillies in 1908, and then was in the minors until the Federal League began in 1914. Harry did not pitch in the Federal League itself, but was picked up by the St. Louis Browns of the American League in 1914 and stayed with them the following year. Harry had been in the New York State League in 1910-1913, but with the inclusion of a St. Louis team in the Federal League, that meant there were three different St. Louis teams in the majors, with the resulting fight to get talent. After his two seasons with the Browns, Harry played for the minor league Louisville Colonels in the remainder of 1915.

Harry and John McDonald were the only major leaguers out of Kutztown University of Pennsylvania for nearly 100 years until Ryan Vogelsong broke in.

Hoch was in the minors as early as 1907, pitching for Wilmington, Harrisburg, Elmira, Binghamton and Louisville. After baseball he worked as a lawyer. [1]
