Biographical Information

Kansas native Herb Bradley spent nine seasons in professional baseball from 1926 to 1935. He made his debut in the majors with the Boston Red Sox on May 9, 1927 and pitched his last game for the Fenway Park team on July 15, 1929. During his comparatively short run in the bigs, he appeared in a total of 24 games, pitching 74 1/3 innings, giving up 87 hits and 49 earned runs for a 5.93 ERA. He had a career 1-4 record for Boston. Bradley spent the rest of his nine-year career in the minors with a 52-68 record, pitching 1,015 innings while appearing in 164 games. His highest win total came in 1933 for the Keokuk Indians of the Class B Mississippi Valley League, when he chalked up 12 wins.

After baseball, Herb owned and operated the Bradley Motor Company in Clay Center, KS, from 1941 until his death. He died unexpectedly in the Clay County hospital while awaiting surgery on October 16, 1959. He was 56.
