Biographical Information

"Henry Hines, a Western League player whose batting and fielding the past season attracted so much attention, has been signed by the Brooklyn Club." - Sporting Life issue of December 29, 1894

Hunkey Hines played two games for the 1895 Brooklyn Grooms, posting an on-base percentage of .400.

An 1887 baseball card exists of him in a St. Louis Whites uniform.

According to the Oswego Daily Times, Sept. 19, 1896, in 1896 he played for the "Saints", after having previously played for Kansas City. In 1897 he signed a contract to play for Detroit. In late 1904 he signed a contract to manage Dubuque in 1905.

He also managed several seasons in the minors.

Sporting Life usually called him Henry Hines, in spite of the fact that it once stated that he was better known as Hunkey Hines.
