Are you hooked on Immaculate Grid, the daily trivia game from Baseball Reference? We sure are! We’ll warn you right now—this blog post contains spoilers. But if you’re looking for a little help with today’s grid (or you already filled it out and want to know who else qualified) read on.

To fill out today’s grid, you need to choose players who played for the Cubs and had 3000+ career hits. Here are some examples:

Cap Anson

Cap Anson was a first baseman and third baseman for the Rockford Forest Citys, Philadelphia Athletics, and Chicago White Stockings. His major league playing career lasted 27 seasons, and he also managed for many years (mostly as a player-manager). One of the first superstars in the game’s history, he is likely the first man in history to reach 3,000 hits

Lou Brock

Lou Brock made his major league debut as a member of the Chicago Cubs, but spent most of his career with the St. Louis Cardinals after one of the most lopsided trades in baseball history. A starting outfielder with the Cubs, he showed some flashes of speed, stealing 24 bases in 1963. Midway through the 1964 season, he was traded to the Cardinals along with two other players for Ernie Broglio and two others. Broglio went 7-19 in two and a half seasons with the Cubs, but Brock went on to hit just under .300 and steal 888 bases in a decade and a half with the Cardinals. He reached the World Series three times, hitting .391 in 21 Fall Classic games. In 1974, he stole 118 bases, a modern record (since broken by Rickey Henderson). He ended his career after the 1979 season with a then-record 938 steals (also later broken by Henderson). He was elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame on January 7, 1985 by the Baseball Writers Association of America and was a charter member of the St. Louis Cardinals Hall of Fame in 2014.

Rafael Palmeiro

Rafael Palmeiro played 20 years in the majors and hit 569 home runs. After testifying to Congress that he had never used steroids, he tested positive in 2005 to performance-enhancing substances, a development that hastened his retirement and has completely tainted his legacy as one of the most productive hitters of his generation. Former teammate Jose Canseco published a book accusing Palmeiro of using steroids, an accusation which Palmeiro had denied.

Rafael was born in Cuba in 1964 but moved to the United States with his family as a child and attended high school in Florida. Palmeiro was signed as a 1st round pick in the 1985 amateur draft by the Chicago Cubs and scout Earl Winn. He played in the minors from 1985 to 1987, always hitting at least .295.
