Are you hooked on Immaculate Grid, the daily trivia game from Baseball Reference? We sure are! We’ll warn you right now—this blog post contains spoilers. But if you’re looking for a little help with today’s grid (or you already filled it out and want to know who else qualified) read on.

To fill out today’s grid, you need to choose players who played for the Guardians and had 3000+ career hits. Here are some examples:

Tris Speaker

Tris Speaker is not merely a Hall of Famer, but is without question an “Inner Circle” member. In the days before Babe Ruth, Tris Speaker and Ty Cobb were, along with Honus Wagner, quite possibly the most famous major league baseball players. People used to argue about which one of the two was better, much in the way that people later would spar over Mickey Mantle and Willie Mays. Speaker’s Hall of Fame plaque, while not settling the issue, calls him the “greatest center fielder of his day” (meaning “the best fielding” center fielder, as there is no argument he was #2 to Cobb in both batting and baserunning).

Nap Lajoie

Nap Lajoie played for 21 years, and helped bring the American League from infancy to respectability. His score on the Black Ink test of appraising ballplayers puts him at # 8 on the all-time list.

He was born September 5, 1874, in Woonsocket, Rhode Island. He was the youngest of eight children of French-Canadian parents. The correct pronunciation of his name was “LaJwa” or “lajaway”. Unlike with most others, nobody ever stuck him with a colorful nickname, so he was usually referred to as Nap or Larry.

Eddie Murray

Eddie Murray is one of four players in history with 500 home runs and 3,000 hits. Hank Aaron, Willie Mays, and Rafael Palmeiro are the others. He was elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame on January 7, 2003 by the Baseball Writers Association of America.

His greatest moment came when he homered in the 2nd and 4th innings of the clinching Game 5 of the 1983 World Series as the Baltimore Orioles built a 4-0 lead over the Philadelphia Phillies.

Seemingly snake-bitten for winning an award between his 1977 Rookie of the Year Award and his Hall of Fame induction in 2003, he finished second in the MVP balloting in 1982 and 1983 and received the most lifetime MVP votes of anyone who never won the award. Murray is one of five players to finish in the top 5 in MVP voting for five consecutive years (the full list consists of Stan Musial 1948-1952; Yogi Berra 1950-1956; Murray 1981-1985; Barry Bonds 1990-1994 & 2000-2004; and Albert Pujols 2001-2006).

Dave Winfield

Dave Winfield was a consistently productive and, in his prime, always dangerous player on both offense and defense, ringing up over 3,100 hits and 1,800 RBI in a 22-year Hall of Fame career. Though he had the tools, the six-time Gold Glover and twelve-time All-Star never won an MVP award or led the league in batting average, on-base percentage, slugging percentage, home runs, doubles, triples, or runs scored. Still, he was both feared and coveted by rival teams.
