Biographical Information[edit]

Jack Stanczak played a couple seasons in the minors. He had been a Big East Conference Player of the Year.

Stanczak was taken by the Houston Astros in the 5th round of the 1989 amateur draft, one pick after Alan Embree and a few picks before two other first basemen, J.T. Snow and Dave Staton. Stanczak opted for college. In 1993, he hit .426, second-best in the Big East Conference, with 13 homers and 56 runs (possibly leading the conference in both). He was named the All-Conference third baseman and split Big East Player of the Year with future major leaguer Lou Merloni. The Texas Rangers took him in the 8th round of the 1993 amateur draft.

For the 1993 Charleston Rainbows, Jack hit .256/.357/.374 but fielded just .888 at the hot corner. In '94, he batted .231/.303/.338 and fielded .931 for the Charlotte Rangers to end his career. Both seasons, he was his club's main third baseman.
