Biographical Information[edit]
Jay Partridge played practically every day as a rookie for the 1927 Brooklyn Robins, leading the team in at-bats, runs scored, and hits. Although not a strong hitter in the majors, with Nashville in 1930 he hit 40 home runs and batted .361 - and was out-done by teammate and former major leaguer Jim Poole, who had 50 home runs and batted .364.
Partridge's time at Oglethorpe University overlapped with that of Dave Barbee. With the Robins, he was the same age as teammate Babe Herman.
Jay played for Nashville in 1926, 1929 and 1930, and later died in Nashville, TN in 1974.
