John Paul Jones

Biographical Information[edit]

John Paul Jones was the first person to hit cleanup for the US national team, doing so in the 1912 Olympics. He went 1 for 3 with a run and handled three chances error-free at 2B in the win over Sweden. He also competed in the 800' and 1,500' in track. He was the IC4A mile champion from 1911-193, setting a world record twice (1911 and 1913 - the latter at 4:14.4)
