Biographical Information[edit]

High School[edit]

Jon Berger lettered as a varsity player all four years at Bishop Gorman High School in Las Vegas. He was team captain in both his junior and senior seasons. Jon was an all-region honoree in his junior year with a 6-4 record and a 2.59 ERA. He earned all-region and all-city honors in his senior year going 5-4 with a 3.19 ERA.

Collegiate[edit]

Jon played his first two years of collegiate ball at the College of Southern Nevada. In his freshman season, he was 5-1 (2.44 ERA). In his sophomore season, Berger was 8-3 (1.79 ERA) as team captain, and led CCSN to a conference title.

Jon began his career at San Diego State University in 2008 as a starter, then finished the season as a short middle reliever.

In the summer of 2008, Berger pitched for the Corvallis Knights in the West Coast Collegiate Baseball League. As both a starter and reliever, he finished with a 4-0 record (1.87 ERA). He was the MVP for the Knights, and pitched in the league's all-star game. He was 4-5 with a 5.83 ERA as a senior at San Diego State.

Minors[edit]

Berger was drafted in the 33rd round of the 2009 MLB June Amateur Draft by the San Diego Padres.

In 2009 with the Padres in the Arizona Rookie League, Jon was 2-1 with a 3.00 ERA in five games. He then went on to play with the Eugene Emeralds in the Northwest League. He went 3-0 (2.93 ERA). Berger moved up to pitch with the Lake Elsinore Storm in the California League, and was 0-2 (17.10 ERA).

In 2010, Jon started with the Fort Wayne TinCaps in the Midwest League where he compiled a 3-1 record (4.82 ERA). He pitched once again with the Lake Elsinore Storm. This time he went 1-2 (5.29 ERA). Berger then moved up to the Portland Beavers in the Pacific Coast League. He started only one game which he lost giving up six runs in two innings.

Jon was signed by the Normal CornBelters on March 2, 2011 and had a 7.17 ERA in eight starts with them to wrap up his career.
