Biographical Information[edit]
Jong-wook Ko was South Korea's right fielder in the 2009 Baseball World Cup. He hit .237/.341/.421 to finish second in slugging on his squad behind Ho-sin Lee. He tied for the most runs (5) and was second in RBI (5, one behind Hun-gon Kim. He had one assist and no errors, two triples and two steals in three tries. He was with South Korea for the 2010 World University Championship.
The Nexen Heroes took him in the 3rd round of the 2011 draft. He hit .248/.279/.400 in 105 at-bats and 54 games as a rookie in 2011. In the 2011 Baseball World Cup, he started in center for South Korea, hitting only .171/.171/.171 with 4 runs and two RBI in 11 games while fielding .846. He led the event with 18 whiffs, two more than runner-up Brock Kjeldgaard. He did not play in the KBO in 2012-2013 then was 0 for 12 with two walks in 2014 before becoming a regular in 2015.
