Biographical Information[edit]

José Ramos has played in the minors and for the Panamanian national team.

Ramos hit .265/.362/.377 for the DSL Dodgers Bautista with 15 doubles in 57 games. He had 90 putouts, 5 assists and no errors in the outfield. In the 2019 U-18 Baseball World Cup, he batted .393/.452/.429, tying for 9th in the event in hits (11), 4 more than any teammate. [1] The 2020 minor league season was wiped out by the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Chepo native split 2021 between the ACL Dodgers (.383/.456/.633, 15 RBI in 15 G) and the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes (.313/.377/.559 in 47 G). In 2022, he hit .277/.391/.518 in 28 games for the Quakes and .240/.322/.467 with 19 homers in 95 games for the Great Lakes Loons. His 25 dingers tied Jonny Deluca and Ryan Noda for 6th in the Dodgers chain while he was 4th in RBI (between James Outman and Noda). He tied Jhonkensy Noel and Alexfri Planez for 5th in the Midwest League in circuit clouts and led in RBI (3 ahead of Tyler Soderstrom).

Making Panama's team for the 2023 World Baseball Classic Qualifiers, he started in center for them. In their opener, he hit fifth against Argentina. He scored their first run, getting hit by a Guido Monis pitch, stealing second, taking third on a throwing error on the play and scoring on a sac fly from José Caballero. He took Kevin Riello deep in the third then added another homer their other game, a two-run shot in the 4th off Brazil's André Rienzo for the winning hit. Panama won a spot in the 2023 World Baseball Classic, their first World Baseball Classic in 14 years. He was 3-for-7 with three runs and four RBI in their two games. He was the only player in the Panama City Qualifier to hit multiple homers. He tied for 10th in the qualifiers in RBI and was 5th in OPS (between Dayle Feldtman and Leonardo Reginatto). [2]
