Biographical Information[edit]
Larry Koentopp played baseball and basketball at Gonzaga University. He went 291-141 as Gonzaga's head baseball coach from 1970-1977. He developed five future major leaguers, as many as in Gonzaga's history prior to 1970: Lenn Sakata, Rick Sweet, Tom Gorman, Casey Parsons and Mike Davey. Koentopp then was owner and GM of the Spokane Indians. He moved the team to Las Vegas, where they became the Las Vegas 51s, before selling them in 1992. His son Kevin Koentopp played one season in the minors.
