Leinier Rodríguez has been a pitcher in Cuba.
Rodríguez debuted in 2006-2007 for Matanzas, going 0-3 with a 5.24 ERA. In 2009-2010, he moved to La Habana and gave up 34 runs in 29 innings, allowing a .356 average. He was 5-1 with four saves and a 3.92 ERA in 2010-2011. La Habana dissolved in 2011-2012 due to Cuba splitting the state in two; Rodríguez went to Mayabeque and was 7-7 with 12 saves and a 2.73 ERA as a bright spot on a 33-63 team. His 42 appearances tied Félix Fuentes for second, four behind Yadir Rabi. He tied Yormani Socarras and Angel Cabrera for 7th in saves.
Leinier was 3-4 with six saves and a 4.46 ERA for Mayabeque in 2012-2013 to tie Raicel Iglesias and Julio Montesinos for sixth in saves. At the half, the league contracted to eight teams for the second half (under Cuba's new split-season format) and he was picked by Pinar del Rio but struggled for them (0-1, 6.62). In 2013-2014, he went 4-3 with 10 saves and a 3.76 ERA but a .340 opponent average for Mayabeque. At the half, he was picked by Holguín and did well (3 Sv, 1 R in 10 IP) to bring his career record to 19-19, 4.32 with 35 saves in 157 games. For the 2013-2014 season, he tied Fuentes, Carlos Juan Viera and Hector Mendoza for second in saves, a distant 8 behind leader José A. García. In the Cuban All-Star Game for 2014, he relieved Julio Martinez for the Occidente with a 3-3 tie in the 8th. He retired only one batter and allowed an Alfredo Despaigne double; Despaigne scored the winning run on a wild pitch by Mendoza to hand Leinier the loss.
