Biographical Information[edit]

Luis Pérez was part of the Hiroshima Carp's Dominican Republic Academy when they loaned him and other players to Taiwan's China Times Eagles in 1994. [1] He hit .257/.267/.407 in 69 games, fielding .864 in 16 games at 3B and .981 in 15 games at 2B. While he was their main backup to Kuang-Shih Wang at 2B, he mostly was used at DH apparently. He later played for the Dominican national team in the 1998 Baseball World Cup, as their main DH (he had four error-free chances at second). He hit .361/.465/.583 with two homers and nine RBI in ten games. Only Victor Rosario had a better OBP or slugging for the team and he tied Rosario for the home run lead on the squad. He led the Dominicans in RBI. [2]
