Biographical Information[edit]

Outfielder Mark Contreras is credited with making his major league debut with the Minnesota Twins on May 11, 2022, but in reality, he only entered the game on May 12th. It was not a case of a very long game running past midnight, but because the game was suspended by rain at the start of the 4th inning, and re-started the next day as part of a doubleheader. When the game resumed, with the Twins trailing 5-1 and another game scheduled for later in the day, manager Rocco Baldelli decided to give oft-injured CF Byron Buxton a rest and inserted Contreras in left field, with Gilberto Celestino sliding over to center. He went 0 for 2 in the remainder of the game, but hit a sacrifice fly and also reached on an error and scored a run. In that same game, pitcher Yennier Cano also made his major league debut in the 4th inning, although in his case, he had already been announced into the game on the 11th and was going through his warm-up pitches before rain intervened and delayed things until the following day.
