Biographical Information[edit]
Pitching for the Kansas City Royals, Mark Littell served up the game-winning home run to Chris Chambliss to end the 1976 ALCS and propel the New York Yankees into their first World Series since 1964.
On August 10, 1981, while pitching for the St. Louis Cardinals, Littell gave up a hit to the Philadelphia Phillies' Pete Rose, who passed Stan Musial as the all-time National League hit leader. His career was cut short a year later by bone spurs in his elbow.
He died from complications following heart surgery.
