Biographical Information[edit]
Mary Shane was a radio and television broadcaster for the Chicago White Sox in 1977 alongside Harry Caray, Jimmy Piersall and Lorn Brown. She was the first female broadcaster in major league baseball history. After just one season, her contract was not renewed.
Shane later turned to sports writing. After her time in broadcasting, she covered the Boston Celtics and Boston Red Sox for a Massachusetts newspaper.
