Biographical Information[edit]

Masayoshi Ishida played in Nippon Pro Baseball for 5 years. .

Ishida was signed by the Nagoya team in 1937, and he hit .111/.273/.111 in the spring then had a .290/.391/.359 batting line in the fall season. He improved to .324/.423/.360 in spring in 1938, and ranked 3rd in batting (.021 behind Haruyasu Nakajima). However, Ishida couldn't extended his solid performance, and he slumped to .230/.356/.230 in fall. He only had a .211/.278/.241 batting line in 1939, and it even worsened further to .191/.294/.219 in 1940. Despite his terrible batting, Ishida still led the JPBL in steals with 32. He was drafted into the military after the 1940 season, and he missed the next five seasons. Ishida came back to the league after World War II, but he only hit .200/.286/.220 and his career ended.

Overall, Ishida had hit .231/.324/.264 with 215 hits and 88 steals in 7 seasons in NPB.
