Biographical Information[edit]

Mike Brown was a minor league player, coach and manager.

Brown played for three years in the Houston Astros chain. He hit .217/.347/.283 as a backup 2B for the 1985 Auburn Astros. Moving up to the Osceola Astros, he improved to .240/.314/.327 in 77 games. He played every position for the team one game (including DH). For the year, he played 48 games at second, 19 in the outfield, 4 at catcher, 3 at pitcher (0-1, 6.75), 3 at third base, two at shortstop and one at first. The utility man was back with Osceola for 65 games in 1987 but fell to .207/.299/.259, though he did steal 12 bases in 14 tries. He did not play 1B or SS but appeared at every other spot. His main position was third base, where he backed up Carlo Colombino. Overall, Brown's batting line was .225/.314/.297 in 173 minor league games. He stole 20 bases in 25 tries.

Brown was a coach for the Kinston Indians in 1988-1989. He was a minor league manager from 1990-1993, coach for the Canton-Akron Indians in 1994, served as the Cleveland Indians minor league pitching coordinator from 1995 to 2001, and the Indians' pitching coach in 2002.
