Biographical Information

Mike Devereaux played twelve seasons in the big leagues, beginning and ending his major league career with the Los Angeles Dodgers but getting most of his at-bats with the Baltimore Orioles. He was basically a pull hitter, with decent power but a middling batting average.

He was part of the 1988 Dodgers team which won the 1988 World Series, although he did not appear in post-season play. He also was traded in late August 1995 to the Atlanta Braves when they went on to win the 1995 World Series. Although Devereaux was the MVP of the 1995 NLCS, he had only four at-bats in the Series.

Born in Wyoming (where he once held high school records in the high jump, 100-, 200- and 400-meters), he is second among Wyoming-born players for the most major league hits, behind Mike Lansing (through 2007).

Devereaux coached for the Delmarva Shorebirds in 2010 and Frederick Keys in 2011. Moving to the Colorado Rockies' organization, he coached for the Asheville Tourists in 2012-2016 and Boise Hawks in 2017. He moved to the Cincinnati Reds as hitting coach of the Pensacola Blue Wahoos in 2018 and Dayton Dragons in 2019.
