Biographical Information[edit]
Nick Dumovich was handed the ball at age 21 for 94 innings with the Chicago Cubs in 1923. The star of the staff at the time was 36-year-old Pete Alexander. Although Nick's 4.60 ERA doesn't sound impressive, it was the lively ball era and the Cubs, who finished over .500, had a team ERA of 3.82.
His brother Marty pitched in the Pacific Coast League from 1928 to 1930 and in 1933, winning 15 games for the Oakland Oaks in 1929.
