Omar Diaz was a St. Louis Cardinals farmhand for four years.

With the 2006 VSL Cardinals, the teenager was 2-8 with a 5.02 ERA. In 66 1/3 innings, he walked 37, hit 18 and threw 11 wild pitches. He led the Venezuelan Summer League in losses and hit batsmen. In 2007, he improved to 4-4, 3.49 with the VSL Cards. In 2008, he had a 0-4, 5.14 record for the GCL Cardinals with 26 walks and 10 wild pitches in 35 innings. He wrapped up in '09 with the GCL Cardinals at 2-0, 2.08 with 10 walks in 13 innings pitched. Diaz was with the Venezuelan national team for the 2010 Pan American Games Qualifiers.
