Biographical Information[edit]

Georgia native Phil McCullough pitched in one game for the Washington Senators on April 22, 1942. He pitched three innings, gave up five hits and four runs for a 6.00 ERA. This was his only appearance in the Major Leagues.

Phil pitched four seasons in the minor leagues and never had a winning season. His best work came in 1941 with the Greenville Spinners of the South Atlantic League when he went 14-16 with a .310 ERA. His four-year minor league numbers show that he ended with a career record of 36-50 and a 4.05 ERA.

McCullough served in the United States Navy during World War II and did not return to professional baseball. Phil died on January 16, 2003 in Decatur, GA at the age of 85. He is interred at the Resthaven Cemetery, Alpharetta, GA.
