Biographical Information[edit]
Prince Joe Henry played in the Negro Leagues with the Memphis Red Sox, Indianapolis Clowns, Detroit Stars, and the Detroit Clowns in the 1950s. In these dying days of the Negro Leagues, comedy and showmanship were as much a part of the entertainment as the baseball. Prince Joe was known for wearing a tuxedo jacket and top hat during games.
Henry also saw some action in organized baseball with the Canton Citizens and the Mount Vernon Kings.
Late in life, Henry wrote a series of articles for the River Front Times called "Ask A Negro Leaguer".
